The Invisible Barriers We Don't Talk About

The Invisible Barriers We Don't Talk About

"I do believe that there are barriers that women face that many times we don't even realize that we're facing them and they're invisible, but they become our way of life."

Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, names what many women feel but can't articulate: the invisible barriers that become so normal we stop seeing them.

"That lack of mentorship, the unequal access to opportunities, the constant pressure to prove yourself. These things really do exist and they exist today," she states plainly.

As someone who rose from phlebotomist to CEO, Deborah has lived through every invisible barrier. Now she's passionate about dismantling them—not just for herself, but for every woman climbing behind her.

The first step? Acknowledging they're real. The second? Refusing to accept them as permanent.

In the full episode of Inspiring Women with Laurie McGraw, learn how recognizing invisible barriers is the first step to breaking them.
